When God decided to give the world Deepika
Deepika was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on 5th January, 1986. Her father, Prakash Padukone is a former badminton player of international repute and her mother is a travel agent. She also has a younger sister, Anisha who was born on February 2nd, 1991 (ahh...more hotness in the family). Somehow God decided to be even more generous with us Indians and her father moved to Bangalore, Karnataka with the family when Deepika was all but 11 months old. Hell yeah!
Deepika finished her schooling in Sophia High School in Bangalore and then did her college education in Mount Carmel College. True to her genes, she dabbled in the fine but a little boring sport of badminton when she was in high school. But, thank God for that, she decided not to pursue the sport. Instead, she tried her hand at modelling while in college and the first time, people were treated to the sight of her on the ramp when she did a show at NLS, Bangalore.
After that, she never looked back. She started her modelling career seriously with brands like Liril, Close-Up and Limca. Soon enough, her amazing smile and beauty and the radiating persona helped her to strike it big and the international cosmetics brand, Maybelline made her their international spokesperson. This is quite big for someone who did not even think of getting into the modelling industry until late!
At the Fifth Annual Kingfisher Fashion Awards, she was awarded the "Model of the Year" title (Mallya, you beauty). Soon afterwards, she was chosen as one of the models for the annual Kingfisher Swimsuit calender for 2006. More recognition was to follow as she won herself two awards at the Idea Zee Fashion Awards. It was during this time when Deepika bagged her second large international brand and became the brand ambassador for Levi Strauss.
Guys, remember those times in the mid years of the decade when Himesh was a hit and all we could see on the tube were videos crooning away to glory? Well, our girl here also made the only music video of her career until very recently (more on that later) with Himesh for the song "Naam Hai Tera Tera" or something like that. Anyways, if you want to catch a glimpse or actually much more of that of Deepika from those days, then just click on the link below!
